Barix Instreamer (Physical unit): Configure Stream Relaying

Once your Barix Instreamer firmware is up-to-date, you're ready to configure relaying to SHOUTcast Australia.


Note: Our examples are based on using a 128kbps package with SHOUTcast Australia. Others will need amendments.

There are some key areas under the Configuration menu that need attention for your relay to broadcast successfully.

Configuration > Advanced Settings > Audio:

  • Input Source: Line Stereo
  • Audio Format: MPEG1 / 44.1KHz (MP3)
  • MPEG Bitrate Mode: CBR
  • MPEG Bitrate: 128kbps
  • A/D amplifier gain: -3dB
  • MP3 Bit Reservoir: Keep empty

Configuration > Advanced Settings > Streaming:

  • Streaming Mode: Send always
  • Buffer Underrun Mode (TCP): Skip
  • Stream Packet Strategy: Optimal package
  • UDP Tx Source Port: 0
  • Own Name: Your Station Name Here
  • Radio Path (mount-point): /stream
  • Icecast 2 Username: WELCOME EMAIL
  • Icy-url / SIP user: Your station website
  • Ice-genre: Genre of your station here
  • Shoutcast stream: Public/Private
  • Destination #1 > Connection type: SHOUTcast
  • Destination #1 > IP or Domain: radio##.shoutcast.net.au
  • Destination #1 > Port: Same as Domain, check WELCOME EMAIL

Configuration > Advanced Settings > Security:

  • Icecase/Shoutcast: WELCOME EMAIL
    • Omit the trailing @ from the password
  • Other settings: Irrelevant to successful relaying to us
